My Anticipated 2024 Releases

Books on display shelf under dim lighting in a bookstore

Hi everyone! For my first blog post, I thought I’d talk about some of my most anticipated 2024 releases. As a reader, I generally tend to stay within my comfort genres. My most read genre is romance novels because who doesn’t love a good love story and a happily ever after? However, I’ve also read a fair share of science-fiction and mystery books.

Without further ado, here is the list!

front cover for "The Takeover"

Cara Tanamachi’s The Takeover. In this book, 30 year old Nami’s life isn’t exactly when she wanted. Newly single, she wishes for her soulmate, but instead she’s reunited with her high school enemy, Jae, who wants to buy out her start-up. With an enemies-to-lovers trope, January 30th can’t come any faster! This will also be the first of Tanamachi’s novels that I’ve read.

Releasing on February 6, I Hope This Doesn’t Find You by Ann Liang is described by Liang as “Never Have I Ever meets To All the Boys if Lara Jean wrote hate emails instead of love letters,” I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since I read Liang’s If You Could See the Sun and This Time It’s Real! I love the writing, characters, dynamics, and overall vibes of those books. I’ve also watched ”Never Have I Ever” (dare I say that it was a guilty pleasure? And enjoyed it, no matter how much I criticized Devi). I also loved To All the Boys and I have even reread it a couple times, so this book sounds perfect to me. Also isn’t this cover is gorgeous?

front cover for "The Encanto's Daughter"

On March 5, The Encanto’s Daughter is being published. Written by Melissa de la Cruz, this fantasy novel includes a monarchy, a murder mystery, and Filipino mythology. As a Filipino myself, I find that the Filipino culture doesn’t get a lot of representation in mainstream books and films. So, I’m really looking forward to reading this one and getting to see Filipino mythology in the spotlight! This book is also the first of a series, so it’s a longer adventure that I’m ready to embark on.

Also in March, How to Solve Your Own Murder is released on the 26th. Kristen Perrin’s novel is about Frances Adams’ grand-niece, Annie, solving her grand-aunt’s murder … however, Frances has spent the last 60 years already compiling evidence and solving her murder. As a casual mystery reader, I’m excited to try and solve this along with Annie.

book cover for "Past Present Future" by Rachel Lynn Solomon

My most anticipated 2024 release, Past Present Future by Rachel Lynn Solomon, is coming on June 4! Picking up where Today Tonight Tomorrow left off, the sequel follows Rowan and Neil to college life and its ups and downs. I was so excited when this book was released because Today Tonight Tomorrow is one of my favourite books and it’s become a comfort read at this point. Words cannot describe how much I love the first book and its characters, and how much love I already have for the second (even if I haven’t read it yet).

Last on this list (for now), is another sequel. On September 1st, comes the second book to the highly loved Better Than the Movies, is Nothing Like the Movies. This book also follows its main couple — Liz Buxbaum and Wes Bennett — into post-secondary life. Much like the rest of BookTok and online book community, I adored the first book and I’m excited to see where the adventure of Liz and Wes goes next. I can’t wait to get my hands on another Lynn Painter book!
